With tonnes of shoe options out there, it can become tricky figuring out what to buy and which styles would work with out wardrobe. So to make things easy, here is a list of the 5 best shoes for men. The list includes both casual and formal shoe options so no matter what your lifestyle or fashion sense, you should be able to find some options that will work well for you.
Best Shoes for Men
Navy Leather Sneaker
Hear me out, I love a white sneaker and the versatility it offers. But it just seems to played out. Prety much everyone owns a pair and I personally believe that a strong component of personal style is standing out (in a good way) so why not go for something more unique but just as versatile (i.e navy sneaker). Actually, it doesn’t have to just be navy, it can be brown, black, gray, pretty much any color than just plain white
But I personally love a navy sneaker because it just looks sleek and stylish and I personally feel it’s a bit higher up in formality than a typically white sneaker. I mean its stilla sneaker and not a dress shoe but if I had to wear a sneaker with a casual suit, I would 99% of the time go for a navy over a white. Also, you can just as easily wear it with casual clothes such as jeans and t-shirts.
Dark Brown Chelsea Boot
What is the most versatile shoe a man can own? Ive put a lot of thought into this and I came to the conclusion that a dark brown chelsea boot is the answer. Think of any casual or dressy outfit which won’t work with a dark brown chelsea boot. You can wear this boot with a full suit (2 piece or 3 piece), blazer/sportcoat, dress pants, chinos and jeans.
The only thing I can think with which this boot won’t work with is a super casual outfit with shorts or a super formal outfit like a tuxedo. If you could only own 1 shoe, this probably should be at the top of the list.
Burgundy Leather Loafer
Loafers are a fantastic footwear option because they are inherently dressy but their design also exudes a sense of laid back cool. Depending on the style and color, a loafer can work with both casual and formal outfits.
For example, a black or dark brown loafer can pair really well with a 2 piece suit in navy, charcoal or gray. While more casual loafers made from suede can be worn with jeans, chinos and even shorts.
Rugged Lace Up Boot
If the dark brown Chelsea boot is going to be your dressy boot, then the rugged lace up boot will work for more tougher situations where you don’t mind getting your shoes roughed up and scratched.
These boots are going to take a beating so they need to have a durable construction like goodyear welt which means they can be resoled again and again. Also, there is not point to resoling a boot if the upper has just disintegrated, so you need to look for a tough leather or suede which will hold up for many years.
Athletic Sneaker/Shoe
There;s nothing better than a comfortable casual sneakers on days when you want to dress casual. Athletic sneakers are great for when you want to style joggers and hoodies.
The key to making the outfit look put together is to stick with neutral colors and that includes the shoes. Most sneakers these day are made in funky colors such as red, green, blue and even yellow. Instead, opt for a more neutral color like gray, navy and brown. These will look sharp and timeless.
Conclusion
I hope you enjoyed this list of the 5 best shoes for men. This list had formal shoes such as the chelsea boot and loafer that you can wear with a suit and business casual outfits. There were also more casual options such as the rugged lace up boot, leather sneakers and athletic . Let me know which style was your favorite.
